NEWS IN LEVELS
UKRANIAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
Vitali Klitschko is Ukrainian presidential candidate. He is pro-Ukrainian, and he does not want Ukraine to be split apart. He delivered a speech in Kharkiv recently. Some pro-Russian protesters were there, too, and they threw eggs at him. Klitschko continued with an umbrella protecting him. The Crimea region may become an independent country soon. A referendum is being held on March 16th. It is a chance for people to decide their future fairly and freely. However, there is no room on the ballot paper for voting “no” to control by Russia.
Difficult words: split apart (break into more parts), independent (not controlled by another country), referendum (people vote to make something happen), ballot paper (paper on which you record your vote).

Malala Yousafzai marks 16th birthday with UN speech
Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teen shot in the head by the Taliban, speaks before the United Nations about universal education.
Listen to Malala's speech and choose one sentence that you like. Then make a little poster with it so that we can show it to other students at school.
